Description

Ortband straps formed the lower end of the dagger or sword sheath. In the Limes area, chapels made of bronze, iron and bone have been preserved. They were either nailed onto the scabbard or clamped and glued.

The bone Ortband of the tension jacket is made of two parts. The precisely fitting back wall was inserted into a groove on the front. A rounded ellipse is raised on the front, the central axis is shaped as a narrow rib. Simple tendrils are engraved in the upper area on both sides of the midrib.
