Description
The shiny brass-colored jug owes its good state of preservation to the fact that it survived the centuries in a well over 14 m deep.
The handle of the vessel is richly decorated. The mouth of the handle is decorated with a palmette with rolled ends, from which two stylized bird heads develop and lie around the edge of the jug. There are two crossed objects on the handle from top to bottom. Below you will find a mask and a sacrificial basket. At the bottom edge the handle ends in an attic in the shape of a young satyr's head.
The proximity to Italian pieces leads to the conclusion that the jug from the train coat could be an import from Italy from the 1st century.
