Description

The open choker is a chance find that got stuck in the sieve along with five bracelets during sand mining. The responsible district forester handed the finds over to the Historical Museum in Hanau in 1956. This jewelry probably belonged to a richly furnished women's grave not far from an old long-distance route called Gelnhäuser Postenstrasse. Unfortunately, no other grave goods or bones have been preserved. The choker has a round cross-section with a slight swelling in the neck and is designed all over with a geometric ornament made of fine notch cuts. At the plate-shaped ends there are remains of red coral decorations from the Mediterranean region.

The original can be found in Steinheim Castle Museum be admired.
