Description

The transparent, colorless glass mug has a slim cylindrical shape that is rounded at the bottom. It ends with a short foot and a flat base stand. It is decorated with a rich layer of snake and spiral shaped colorless glass threads, some of which have been flattened and provided with oblique notches. They could represent seaweed.

The vessel comes from a grave find on Lütticher Strasse in Cologne and was associated with a second, almost identical vessel, which is now kept in the Roman-Germanic Museum of the City of Cologne.
