Statuette of a dove

Using simple plastic means, the sculptor was able to reproduce the characteristic body structure and movement of a pigeon. The bird appears to be walking on the ground and is looking intently to the side with its head slightly tilted.

The ram is depicted with short, curly fur and small horns that are close to the head. As the traces on the stone on the back show, it probably belonged to a larger relief.

The muscular bull has hit his tail with the small tassel on the right side of his back. The stone under the belly was probably not removed by the sculptor for greater stability.

Fragments of an imperial statue

The hollow cast right thumb of a larger-than-life bronze statue was found in the Principia in front of the flag sanctuary along with other fragments. The massive index finger, on the other hand, comes from the embankment behind the defensive wall. Both fragments belong to bronze statues from the early 3rd century AD, which depicted Roman emperors in military regalia with breastplates.

The river god Acheloos appears in ancient mythology as a hybrid of a man and a bull. The bronze appliqué shows him as a mask with thick fur over his forehead and small bull ears and horns. The calyx of an arcanthus plant grows from the fur.
